Network Operations Centre (NOC)

Your network carries everything your business does. Cratsol provides continuous monitoring and management of the network layer, so faults, congestion, and connectivity problems are identified and dealt with before they interrupt your operations.

Continuous oversight of the network your business depends on

When a network fails, everything connected to it fails with it. Applications stop responding, calls drop, sites lose connectivity, and work halts across the organisation. Network faults are rarely contained, which is why the network warrants dedicated attention rather than being treated as one system among many.

NOC services provide that attention. We monitor the devices and links that carry your traffic, identify faults and performance problems as they develop, and manage them through to resolution. The intention is straightforward: keep your network available, performing, and under control.

Network operations and security operations are not the same

The two are frequently confused. Both involve continuous monitoring, but they watch for different things and respond to different problems.

Most organisations benefit from both. Cratsol provides NOC services here, and security operations as part of our Cyber Security portfolio.

NOC services

  • Focus on network availability and performance
  • Watches for faults, congestion, and degradation
  • Objective is to keep the network running well
  • Responds to outages and performance problems

SOC services

  • Focus on security threats and incidents
  • Watches for intrusion, unusual behaviour, and compromise
  • Objective is to keep the organisation protected
  • Responds to security incidents

The network layer, monitored end to end

Network problems often show themselves gradually, as slowdowns, intermittent faults, or degraded links, before they become outages. Continuous oversight identifies those patterns early.

Switches and routing

The core devices moving traffic across your network, monitored for faults and performance.

Firewalls

Availability, throughput, and configuration health of the devices protecting your network edge.

Wireless access points

Coverage, connectivity, and performance across your wireless network.

Internet and WAN links

Connectivity, availability, and performance of the links between your sites and the outside world.

Network performance

Traffic patterns, congestion, and the trends that indicate capacity problems ahead.

Configuration and change

Visibility of the changes made to network devices, and their effect.

We monitor the network equipment we supply

Most providers monitor networks assembled by someone else. As a value-added distributor, we supply switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless equipment as part of our core business, so we understand how these devices behave, what their alerts mean, and how to get results from the vendors behind them.

We know the equipment

We monitor the same network hardware we supply.

Vendor relationships that help

Faults pursued through a vendor network we work with daily.

Network specialists

Oversight from people who work on network infrastructure, not generalists.

From detection to resolution

Trusted across the sectors that depend on technology

We support organisations with demanding, sector-specific requirements — understanding the compliance, continuity, and performance needs particular to each.

FAQ UI - Radius + Full Width Mobile
What does a Network Operations Centre actually do?
−
NOC services provide continuous monitoring and management of your network: the switches, routers, firewalls, wireless equipment, and connectivity links that carry your traffic. Faults and performance problems are identified, diagnosed, and resolved, including those that need to be pursued with a vendor or provider.
How is this different from proactive monitoring?
+
Proactive monitoring covers your wider IT estate, including servers, storage, and endpoints. NOC services focus specifically on the network layer, where the effects of a fault are felt across everything connected to it. The two work well together.
What is the difference between a NOC and a SOC?
+
A NOC is concerned with network availability and performance. A SOC is concerned with security threats and incidents. They monitor for different things and respond differently. We provide both, with security operations forming part of our Cyber Security services.
Will you deal with our internet provider for us?
+
Yes. Where a fault sits with a carrier, internet provider, or hardware vendor, we raise and manage the case on your behalf, and pursue it until it is resolved.
Do we need this if we already have IT support?
+
It depends on your network. Organisations with multiple sites, heavy connectivity requirements, or networks that are business-critical usually benefit from dedicated network oversight in addition to general IT support.
